Getting Help for Bounced, Refused, Denied or Returned Emails
Dear CMS-MPC Correspondent,
We're sorry you've had a problem emailing us! We will get to a solution for you right away. Go to What To Do.
There are many causes for email difficulties. Some are transient and will clear when the networks and mailhosts involved again become available; and others are the result of settings and controls, some of which may require adjustment.
Because email these days can be dangerous, bringing unwanted Trojans, worms and viruses into a secure company subnet, we practice some modest controls to prevent the entry of mail from the sources of past trouble.
If you have tried to email to us and received a message saying ``571 5.0.0 Access denied - call CMS-MPC for help,'' this is caused by a blockage at the cms-mpc.com mailhost.
This error is caused for one of three reasons:
- your email address is blocked
- your email is from a blocked network
- reverse domain-name verification failed
We can cure the first two causes immediately as we discover them.
The third cause requires help from your network administration in getting your mail server configured properly for rDNS resolution, so that mailhosts across the globe can be sure that your mail is really coming from you, as the header in your transmitted email claims it is.
cms-mpc.com cannot accept mail from unverified mailhosts, and to do so would permit entry of much forged, ``spoofed,'' and bogus mail, virtually all from very malicious sources. This kind of mail cannot be permitted, and the practice of restricting it is common among most all careful mail administrators.
top of pageTest Email Addresses Here
![]()
Test the validity of your email address and other email addresses here. Choose
``E-Mail Validation,'' and see your local ip address being displayed in the search box.Remove your local ip address and type in the full email address being tested, such as contact@domain.com, and click the submit button. Make sure the validate button is checked before submitting your query! If this test returns a success result, you will know that the email address being queried is valid with respect to the rDNS records.
Some of the network testing functions, such as ping and traceroute, have been temporarily suspended because of the denial-of-service attacks now underway caused by the Welchia Worm. Welchia checks for active machines to infect by sending an ICMP echo request, or PING, which is causing considerable network slowdowns by increased ICMP traffic until it can be finally eradicated.
Test Domain Name Resolution Here
![]()
Test your network's reverse domain name lookup and blocklist inclusions here.
The URBL lists all ip addresses, and is not a blocklist. All networks test positive for URBL. Click the first link above to obtain your local public ip address. You must enter this four-part ethernet address to run this test. Do not enter your domain name or email address; use the four-part ip address [eg: 216.27.61.137]. The first test shown, ABL, will validate your rDNS. If that test fails, you cannot send mail to cms-mpc.com until the problem is cleared.
In most cases, the blockage is caused by numbers (1) or (2), above, and we can correct it immediately as soon as we are aware of your problem in mailing us.
If your email was returned to you stating that the user or host was unknown, this error is normally caused because of a malformation of the email address used. Contact us, using the mail links below, and let us know your contact's name at CMS-MPC, and we will supply you a corrected email address for this contact by return email.

What To Do...
All that you must do is send a copy of your returned or refused email to <cms-mpc postmaster> and, if that fails to deliver, send it to <cms-mpc administration>. You can also just send a new email to these addresses and we will clear the problem right away.
Just tell us that your mail was refused and you need the problem cleared. It will also help us to know who at cms-mpc.com you were trying to email, as there are some causes for bounces that originate not at the mailhost, but instead at the contact's desktop, as that person may have returned or blocked your email by accident or misconfiguration in his or her mailing software.
We will check all causes and contact the person you are trying to email to make sure all problems are cleared. We will then email you to let you know that the problem as been cured and that your mail can go through the next time you try to mail to us.
Thank you for you patience in helping us clear this error. We are most eager to hear from you, and we want to be able to serve you and your company's needs right away. Your help in aiding us resolve this error is also most graciously appreciated at this time!
